March 8th, International Women’s Day, is not only a date to celebrate the progress made in rights and opportunities, but also a day to reflect on the path still ahead. It is a day to remember all the brave women who, throughout history, have fought against inequality, abuse, and oppression.
The History Behind 8M
The origins of this commemoration date back to textile workers’ protests in New York in 1875, who fought against unfair wages and deplorable working conditions. Despite brutal repression, their struggle marked a milestone in labor rights history and led to the creation of the first female union.
In 1977, the UN General Assembly officially declared International Women’s Day, emphasizing its significance as a historical fight for equality and peace. Since then, this date has reminded us of the courage and determination of the women who have transformed the world and continue to do so.
Female Empowerment: A Daily Victory
Empowered women are those who embrace their authenticity, recognize their worth, and work for a more equitable world. But what does it really mean to be an empowered woman?
