Gratinated Leeks with Ham and Cheese

Gratinated Leeks with Ham and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 8 leeks (canned or fresh, previously cooked)
  • 8 slices of Edam cheese or similar
  • 8 slices of cooked ham, York or roasted
  • 500 ml of béchamel sauce
  • 50 g of grated cheese for gratinating

Preparation:

  • Drain the leeks if they are canned, or cook them if they are fresh. Once ready, carefully dry them with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Wrap each leek first with a slice of cheese and then with a slice of cooked ham, forming a roll.

  • Cover the base of an oven-safe dish with a layer of béchamel sauce. Arrange the wrapped leeks on top of the sauce, aligning them in a single layer.
  • Pour the remaining béchamel sauce over the leeks, ensuring they are well covered to prevent them from drying out during cooking. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly on top.

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.
  • Remove the leeks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
