The name “chop suey” literally means “mixed pieces”, and that’s precisely what this recipe is: a mixture of vegetable pieces.
Ingredients:
– 1 onion
– ½ red bell pepper
– ½ yellow bell pepper
– 1 garlic clove
– 1 carrot
– 1 scallion
– 2 cabbage leaves
– 1 tablespoon of oil
– Grated ginger to taste
– Soy sauce
– Sesame seeds for garnish
Preparation:
- Prepare all the ingredients before starting the cooking process. Peel and slice the onion into strips, chop the garlic, peel and cut the carrot into thin sticks, wash and cut the peppers into thin strips, slice the scallion into rings and strips, and cut the cabbage into julienne strips.
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a wok or deep skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until they begin to lightly brown.
- Add the peppers, carrot, and the white part of the scallion. Cook for a maximum of 5 minutes, keeping the vegetables crunchy.
- Incorporate the green part of the scallion and the cabbage. Add soy sauce and grated ginger to taste. Mix well and turn off the heat.
- Serve the vegetable chop suey, garnish with sesame seeds, and it’s ready to enjoy!
