Christmas Cookies

Christmas cookies are a classic treat that brings joy to any celebration. Here’s a simple and delicious recipe to make your own cookies at home.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g (1 cup) of butter (at room temperature)
  • 200 g (1 cup) of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  •  500 g (4 cups) of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar and decorations (optional, for decorating)

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and continue to mix until well combined.

  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until the dough comes together.

  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 5 mm (1/4 inch). Use cookie cutters with Christmas shapes to cut out the cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden. Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack before decorating with powdered sugar and festive toppings, if desired.
