Potato Gratin

Ingredients

  • Leek: 1 unit
  • Double cream: 200 millilitres
  • Eggs: 2 units
  • Grated cheese: 150 grams
  • Potatoes: 1 kilogram
  • Confit garlic: 5 cloves
  • Oil: as needed
  • Salt and pepper: to taste

Preparation

  • Prepare the cream mixture: In a bowl, mix the double cream, eggs, grated cheese, salt, pepper, and the finely sliced leeks, previously sautéed.
  • Prepare the potatoes: Peel and finely slice the potatoes using a mandoline. Mash the confit garlic into a paste and mix it with the potatoes.
  • Assemble the gratin: Arrange the potato slices vertically in a greased rectangular oven dish.

  • Add the cream mixture: Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes, ensuring they are well covered.
  • Bake: Cover the dish with aluminium foil and place it in a preheated oven at 180°C for approximately 40 minutes.
  • Finish and serve: Remove the aluminium foil and cook for a few more minutes if necessary, until the top is golden and the potatoes are fully cooked. Serve hot.
