Zapiekanka is a Polish street food that became popular during the communist era. It consists of a halved baguette topped with mushrooms and cheese, then baked and served with ketchup.
Ingredients:
- 1 baguette
- 200 g fresh mushrooms, chopped
- 150 g grated cheese (Gouda or Emmental)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Ketchup for serving
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- In a pan, sauté the mushrooms with butter until golden.
- Slice the baguette in half and spread the mushrooms on top.
- Sprinkle with cheese and bake until melted and slightly golden.
- Serve hot with ketchup drizzled over the top.
