San Jacobo is a delicious dish from Spanish cuisine, very similar to a breaded cutlet, made with cooked ham and cheese, coated and fried. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it’s perfect for a quick and tasty meal.
Ingredients
- 6 thick slices of cooked ham
- 6 slices of cheese
- 40 g of wheat flour
- 1 medium egg
- 100 g of breadcrumbs
- 100 ml of olive oil for frying
Preparation
- Lay the slices of cooked ham on a flat surface. Place a slice of cheese on one half of each ham slice. Fold each slice of ham over the cheese, forming a pocket or “book.”
- Prepare three plates: one with flour, another with the beaten egg, and the third with breadcrumbs. Coat each San Jacobo first in flour, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs, ensuring each piece is well covered. You can repeat this step for a thicker and crunchier coating.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the San Jacobos for about 3–4 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
- Place the San Jacobos on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve immediately with a salad or fries, and enjoy this delightful dish!
