Doughnut Dough

Doughnut Dough

Ingredients

1 kg all-purpose wheat flour

260 g sugar

40 g fresh yeast

80 g butter

4 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

200 ml warm milk

Preparation

Place the flour in a large bowl, make a well in the center, and pour in the warm milk mixed with the yeast.

Melt the butter and combine it with the flour and the rest of the ingredients: eggs, sugar, and vanilla.

Knead for 20–30 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth, elastic, and slightly sticky.

Shape the dough into a ball, cover it with a cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rest for 1 hour, until it doubles in size.

Roll out the dough to about 1 cm thick, without pressing it too hard.

Cut out the doughnuts and place them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Let them rest for another 10 minutes.

To fry them, heat plenty of oil and cook in small batches, browning both sides. To bake them, place them in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 10 minutes.

Decorate with glaze, ganache, frosting, or simply powdered sugar.
