How to Do Halo Lips

How to Do Halo Lips

Lips are back in the spotlight with a technique that focuses on volume and a natural finish: halo lips. This style, whose name can be understood as “lips with an aura,” creates the visual effect of fuller, juicier, and more youthful lips, similar to a soft filter, without the need to sharply outline the lips or overuse lip liner.

Unlike traditional lip makeup, halo lips are not about applying lipstick evenly. The key is to place colour where it adds the most volume and allow the edges of the lips to remain soft. This technique is designed to create optical volume by concentrating intensity at the centre of the lips and blending it outwards, achieving a flattering gradient effect.

To achieve this look, start by properly preparing your lips: gently exfoliate and moisturise them to ensure an even finish. Next, apply a medium or bold lipstick or tint only to the centre of both the upper and lower lips. Using a small brush or your fingertip, blend the colour outwards without reaching the full lip line. To enhance the effect, you can add a touch of gloss at the centre to boost the sense of volume and shine. It’s important to avoid harsh lines and defined edges.

For daytime, soft pink nude, peach, or light raspberry shades work beautifully, giving a natural “bitten lip” effect. For evening looks, simply deepen the colour with cherry, burgundy, or berry tones and add a bit of shine. It’s a versatile technique that easily adapts to any occasion.
