Restorative Yoga: A Simple Routine to Relax at Home

Restorative Yoga: A Simple Routine to Relax at Home

The fast pace of everyday life, stress, and constant use of electronic devices can make it difficult to relax at the end of the day. During these moments, restorative yoga becomes an excellent option to calm both the body and mind before going to sleep. The best part is that you do not need a specialised studio or expensive equipment: with a rolled-up blanket, a cushion, and a few quiet minutes, you can create a relaxing wellness space at home. Unlike other types of yoga, restorative yoga is not about challenging the body, but rather encouraging deep relaxation. The key is to hold each pose for several minutes, breathe calmly, and allow the muscles to release built-up tension. This time spent in each position helps the body reduce its state of alertness and activate its natural recovery processes.

Restorative Yoga Routine to Do at Home

Legs Up the Wall (5 to 10 minutes)
Lie on your back and rest your straight legs against a wall. Place a folded blanket or cushion under your hips for extra comfort. Keep your arms relaxed by your sides and breathe slowly. This pose supports circulation and helps relieve the feeling of tired legs.

Gentle Spinal Twist (3 to 5 minutes on each side)
With your back resting on the floor, bring both knees towards your chest and then gently lower them to one side. You can place a cushion under your legs for additional support. Turn your head in the opposite direction and breathe slowly, without forcing the movement.

Final Relaxation (5 to 10 minutes)
Lie on your back with a cushion under your knees or a blanket over your body to create a comfortable and cosy feeling. Close your eyes and allow your breathing to flow naturally, without trying to control it. Focus only on relaxing each part of your body.
